Pathways to Aruba Residence

Aruba has several residence routes with different starting points. A person aged 55 or older with qualifying retirement income may explore the retiree permit. Adults with enough qualifying income from assets or rental property may consider the independent-means permit. Both are temporary permits, generally issued for one year, and neither allows paid work in Aruba. The income and source rules differ, so the two permits should not be treated as interchangeable.

The spouse route depends on the marriage and the Aruba resident's immigration status. Some temporary-resident sponsors must have lived legally in Aruba for at least three years. A family permit does not necessarily include work permission.

For someone already living in Aruba with at least 120 months of qualifying permission, DIMAS publishes an indefinite-residence permit. Visitor time does not substitute for that history. None of these permits automatically grants Dutch citizenship. Check the current DIMAS permit guidance before applying.
