Pathways to British Virgin Islands Residence and Work

An employer in the British Virgin Islands can pursue an employer-sponsored work permit for a specific foreign worker and job after the required local recruitment steps. A job offer does not by itself authorize work; the work-permit and immigration processes must be completed.

Someone who has already lived in the Territory for ten years in a row may explore Residence Status. The government generally limits time away to 90 days in a year, considers ties and character, and gives Cabinet the final decision. This is an established-resident route, not permission for a first move. Residence Status and Belonger Status are distinct, and neither of these routes automatically gives British citizenship.
