Armenia Student Residence
At a glance
If you have a place at an Armenian educational institution, you may be able to apply for temporary residence for your studies. The school provides evidence of the course, while the immigration agency separately decides whether you can live in Armenia.
- Admission
- Acceptance into an eligible course
- Support
- Tuition, living costs, and health coverage
Summary
Student residence allows a foreign student to live in Armenia for an accepted course. The school supplies the course records, while the applicant prepares the personal and medical documents needed for the residence decision.
Academic admission, permission to enter Armenia, and the resident card are separate matters. Enrollment must remain genuine, and a later move into employment or longer-term residence needs its own qualifying basis.
-
Confirm the Armenian course Obtain the institution's admission or enrollment records for the actual study program.
-
Prepare your residence application Document support, health coverage, and the required personal and medical records.
-
Confirm entry and filing Check any visa and the correct place to apply for temporary residence.
-
Keep the study basis current If approved Maintain enrollment, attendance, and progress for renewal.
Admission and residence are separate decisions. An academic place does not replace an entry visa or resident card.
Eligibility
Study at an Armenian educational institution is a recognized basis for a temporary resident card. The institution’s records must substantiate the actual course, together with the required personal and medical documents.
You need a credible plan for paying tuition and everyday living costs in Armenia, together with the health coverage required for the permit. A scholarship or documented sponsor may help meet the financial requirement.
The course must be the real reason for the stay. Attendance, progress, and continued enrollment matter when renewing permission; admission alone does not grant a right to remain indefinitely.
Student residence applications are moving to a new system
Student residence applications are moving to a new system
The Migration and Citizenship Service will use its new electronic residence platform from November 1. The old appointment channels will stop operating; the filing date also matters for the law’s transition rules.
Timing: The main reform starts November 1, 2026. Applications submitted before commencement are considered under the previous rules. The law ties the new work-visa and work-authorization provisions to the launch of the new entry e-visa system, so they should not all be assumed to start on the same day.
What This Route Allows
The permit allows you to live in Armenia for the approved course. Student residence does not by itself establish unrestricted work rights.
The temporary resident card can be issued for up to one year and renewed while the study basis continues. The continued course and the conditions of the stay matter at renewal; the first approval does not establish an indefinite right to remain.
What This Route Is Not
Permission remains tied to genuine enrollment and academic progress. A later job or longer-term status needs its own qualifying basis and, where required, a new application.
Next Steps
The institution can confirm whether the course qualifies and supply the admission or enrollment records. The responsible immigration authority or consulate establishes where the residence application must be filed, which personal documents are needed, and whether an entry visa is required. Coordinating those two parts helps align the course’s start date with the immigration process.
