-

Student residence does not count toward the ordinary route to permanent residence.
Eligibility
Your institution must provide documents confirming your studies. Ask whether an exchange or education agreement affects the permission or documents you need.
You must show how you will support yourself and provide evidence that you are studying and remain enrolled when required. Admission alone does not replace the residence application or renewal process.
You will also need identity and immigration records, proof of how you will support yourself, and the required criminal-record and health documents. Documents from abroad may need official authentication and translation. Bolivia’s migration authority, DIGEMIG, can confirm the checklist for your situation.
What This Route Allows
You can live in Bolivia for the approved studies for up to three years. Renewal depends on continuing to meet the study and financial requirements.
What This Route Is Not
Graduation does not guarantee permanent residence. The study category is excluded from the ordinary route to permanent residence, so any later move to another category needs its own review and approval.
Next Steps
- Ask your institution for the study documents and whether an education agreement applies.
- Confirm the application checklist with DIGEMIG and prepare your financial and personal records.
- Apply for student residence and check when you will need to renew.
- If you hope to stay after studying, check the requirements for another residence category.
