Côte d’Ivoire Student Residence
At a glance
If you have a place on a qualifying higher-education course in Côte d’Ivoire, you can apply for student residence. You need proof that you are studying during the current academic year and the general resident-card documents. A previous year’s student card is not enough to show current enrollment.
- Studies
- An accepted place on a qualifying higher-education course
- Current-year evidence
- Attendance, registration, or a student card for the current academic year
- Support
- Accepted financial-support and sponsorship records
Summary
Students attending an eligible institution in Côte d’Ivoire can apply for a resident card to live there during their studies, supported by evidence for the current academic year. ONECI accepts the relevant attendance, registration or student-card records together with financial-support evidence; an old student card cannot establish continuing enrollment.
Online registration comes before the resident-card appointment. The applicant also needs the required sponsorship, address, identity and entry documents. Any planned work or post-study stay needs its own permission check rather than an assumption based on student status.
Eligibility
ONECI, the national identity office, accepts current-year attendance, registration, or student-card evidence. Obtain an up-to-date document from the institution and accepted evidence of financial support.
Complete ONECI’s online registration before your appointment. Prepare sponsorship, local residence, identity, lawful-entry, and payment records. Ask the enrollment office whether it needs additional police or birth and other personal records.
-
Get current-year study evidence Ask the school for the accepted enrollment or attendance document.
-
Prepare support and personal records Confirm ONECI’s current residence checklist and entry requirements.
-
Complete registration and apply for residence Keep the study evidence current and renew before expiry.
A school place or old student card does not replace current enrollment evidence and residence approval.
What This Route Allows
Once approved, you can stay in Côte d’Ivoire for the studies and period covered by the permit. Continue to meet the conditions and ask when updated school records are needed for renewal.
What This Route Is Not
Admission alone does not grant residence. Student status does not promise unrestricted employment, a work visa after graduation, permanent residence, or citizenship. Check any planned work or later stay separately.
Next Steps
- Confirm admission and obtain current academic-year evidence from the institution.
- Gather financial-support, sponsorship, address, identity, and other requested documents.
- Arrange lawful entry and complete ONECI’s online registration and residence application.
- Track the permit’s expiry and renew with updated study records before it ends.
