Summary

If an educational institution in Guyana has accepted you, you can apply for a student visa. You need an acceptance letter and documents showing how you will pay for your stay.

Your course dates and visa dates may differ. Admission does not automatically give you permission to stay for the whole course, so check whether you will need an extension.

Prepare for your course
  1. Confirm your place Obtain the acceptance letter and course details.
  2. Show how you will pay Gather financial records and any sponsor documents.
  3. Check your approved stay Apply through Home Affairs and arrange any necessary extension.

School admission does not itself authorize the full course-length stay.

Eligibility

You need a confirmed place and an acceptance letter from the institution. An application to a school is not enough.

The portal lists a birth certificate, photograph, proof of financial support, and passport records. Sponsor documents, police clearance, and a medical report may also be required. Ask the institution which records apply to your age and course.

What This Route Allows

If approved, you can stay in Guyana for the studies and period covered by the permission. An extension requires a separate application; remaining enrolled does not automatically extend your stay.

What This Route Is Not

This is not an employment visa or an automatic route to permanent residence. Check the immigration requirements separately if you want to work.

Next Steps

  1. Obtain your acceptance letter and course details.
  2. Gather proof of funding and the personal or sponsor documents required for your situation.
  3. Apply through Home Affairs and compare the approved stay with your course dates.
  4. Arrange any extension before your permission ends.
