Summary

If you have a place at a qualifying institution in Israel, you may be able to apply for an A/2 student visa. It normally lasts up to one year and can be renewed if you continue qualifying studies and meet the requirements.

Could this pathway work for you?

Eligibility

You need acceptance by a qualifying educational institution, proof that you can pay tuition and living costs, and a valid passport or other accepted travel document. Children also need the required parental consent.

Ask the institution's international-student office and the Israeli consulate or Population and Immigration Authority where to apply and which documents you need for your course and nationality. Check any translation or official authentication requirements and whether you need approval before departure.

If you already have another residence status, ask whether you need an A/2 student visa.

Applying for an A/2 student visa
  1. Confirm your place Ask the institution whether A/2 covers your course and where you should apply.
  2. Prepare the documents Gather your travel document, financial and academic records, and any other required evidence.
  3. Apply as directed Follow the consulate's or immigration authority's entry and residence instructions.
  4. Check the visa conditions Note its expiry date and work restrictions, and prepare for renewal before it expires.

A place on a course does not itself give you a visa or permission to work.

What This Route Allows

The A/2 visa lets you stay in Israel for approved studies, normally for up to one year. Renewal depends on continued study and meeting the authority's requirements. Keep enrollment and progress records and ask the school when renewal documents will be available.

What This Route Is Not

A/2 is not a general work permit or an automatic route to permanent residence. Any permission for research or teaching work must be checked separately, so do not plan to fund your studies with an ordinary local job. Admission does not itself grant entry or residence: confirm visa requirements before paying for a course.

Next Steps

  1. Get admission and confirm that A/2 is the right visa for your course.
  2. Prepare your travel document, financial and academic records, parental consent if needed, and any other documents on the checklist.
  3. Apply through the consulate or immigration authority as directed by the school.
  4. Check the visa's expiry date and restrictions. Prepare for renewal or another residence option before your studies end.
