Summary
Covered CARICOM citizens with a Skills Certificate accepted by Saint Lucia can seek or take employment without an ordinary work permit. The destination must recognize the category and verify the certificate. This is not unrestricted movement for every CARICOM citizen. People covered by a broader OECS or four-country movement right should compare that route before spending money on a Skills Certificate.
-
Confirm the covered nationality and category Check Saint Lucia's implemented rules for the applicant's skill.
-
Verify the accepted certificate Ask the authorities to confirm that they accept your certificate and qualifications.
-
Arrange entry and verification Complete the required process and assess family members separately.
A regional announcement or passport alone does not establish the destination's accepted skills category.
Eligibility
Citizenship and skills requirements
This guide covers citizens of Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It does not treat residence in one of those countries as citizenship. Partial-participant or territory-status cases outside this list need an individual review.
Confirm the category and supporting qualification with Saint Lucia’s responsible authority before obtaining or relying on a certificate. A regional announcement about a newly added occupation does not by itself establish that the destination has implemented it.
An accepted CARICOM Skills Certificate
A CARICOM passport alone is insufficient. The destination must recognize both your category and your certificate; do not assume every category announced regionally has been implemented locally.
Moving to Saint Lucia for paid work
This is the skilled-national employment arrangement. A move solely for retirement or tourism needs a different immigration category.
Documents for your application
Provide the qualifying passport, Skills Certificate, and the identity, qualification, police, and family records requested for destination verification. Complete the local verification process rather than relying only on a certificate issued elsewhere.
