Frequently Asked Questions
If you don't see your question here, feel free to reach out to us: hello@citizeo.com.
The basics
Is Citizeo free?
Yes, completely. You can use Citizeo's discovery process, view your results, and research pathway details for free — there's no paywall.
If you decide to pursue a pathway and need assistance, we can connect you with an immigration expert. Navigating the citizenship and visa application process can be challenging, and having an expert step you through the process can be very helpful. Citizeo may earn a fee from this firm.
Do I need to create an account?
Yes. An account helps you save your progress, return to your results later, and request help from an immigration professional, should you need it.
How long does the discovery process take?
Most people can answer the core questions in about 10 minutes, but you don't have to finish in one sitting. Your progress is saved along the way, and you can return and continue anytime — work comfortably at your own pace.
Accuracy and reliability
How accurate is Citizeo?
Citizeo rigorously researches pathway details against official sources such as government immigration websites, statutes, treaties, and agency guidance. Resource pages include source links so you can review the underlying material.
Citizeo is still a discovery tool, not a legal opinion. Immigration rules change, and real eligibility can depend on details that are hard to capture in a questionnaire: exact dates, document wording, prior citizenship status, criminal history, residence history, and the quality of your evidence. Citizeo content is provided for educational purposes only and should not be considered legal advice.
Can Citizeo tell me whether I will be approved?
No. No software tool can honestly guarantee that.
Citizeo can help identify pathways worth reviewing based on the information you provide. Approval depends on the current law, the facts of your case, your documents, and the relevant authority reviewing the application.
What if I do not know an answer?
That is normal. Many people do not know an ancestor's exact citizenship status, a parent's naturalization date, or whether a job offer would meet a technical visa rule.
When possible, Citizeo lets you choose "not sure" or continue with partial information. A pathway may then appear as something to verify rather than a clear likely match.
Privacy and data
What happens to my answers?
Your answers are used to evaluate which pathways may match your situation and to save your progress. We take your privacy very seriously (see our privacy policy for more details). Citizeo does not sell your answers to advertisers.
Can immigration authorities see what I told Citizeo?
No. Citizeo does not share your answers with immigration authorities, consulates, or government agencies as a part of the discovery process.
If you choose to work with a professional, you decide what information to share with that professional.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can request deletion of your account and saved data. Please see our data deletion instructions for more information.
Pathway coverage
How many pathways does Citizeo cover?
Citizeo currently covers about 500 citizenship and residency pathways across 80+ countries. Coverage includes citizenship by descent, naturalization, skilled work, digital nomad and remote work routes, retirement and financially independent visas, family-based routes, investment pathways, and special heritage or treaty-based routes.
Why is a country or pathway missing?
Citizeo grows as new pathways are researched and verified. We prioritize routes with clear public rules, reliable source material, and strong user interest.
If there is a country or pathway you would like to see added, email hello@citizeo.com. User feedback helps shape what we research next.
Working with a professional
Does Citizeo replace an immigration lawyer?
No. Citizeo helps you discover and understand possible pathways. Immigration lawyers and qualified professionals help you evaluate your specific facts, prepare applications, and make strategic decisions.
How do I find a professional through Citizeo?
When Citizeo believes a pathway is a likely match based on the information you've provided, you will see an option to request expert help. If you agree to proceed to request a consultation, Citizeo shares the request with the relevant specialist or reviews it so we can try to connect you with someone suitable.
How does Citizeo choose professionals?
Citizeo reviews specialists based on credentials, jurisdiction, experience, and the pathway types they handle. We do not sell rankings or let specialists pay to appear as a better match.
About Citizeo
How does Citizeo make money?
Citizeo's discovery tool will always be free. We earn revenue when users request help from an immigration specialist to pursue their pathway, but this is strictly optional. Our mission is to give users free tools that empower them with the knowledge they need to understand their global mobility options.
