Summary

Andorra's digital nomad residence is for newcomers whose work does not require a fixed geographic location and can be done through telecommunications and technology. It allows residence in Andorra but depends on a favorable classification from the ministry responsible for the economy.

The route is relevant only where the economy ministry issues the required favorable decision that the person's work does not require a fixed location and uses telecommunications and technology. Having an ordinary work-from-home arrangement is not enough by itself.

Pathway fit check

Eligibility

You may be a fit if:

The applicant must also fit the regulatory quota. The official checklist requires criminal-record certificates from the country of origin, country of nationality and countries of residence; civil-status records; housing; registration with the local Comú; and apostille or legalization of foreign official records.

What This Route Allows

This route can let you reside in Andorra while doing the location-independent work accepted by the economy ministry. The initial authorization is two years; the first renewal is two years, the second is three years, and later renewals are ten years, subject to continuing eligibility and any treaty exception. Registration with the Comú is required within one month after the authorization and must be documented within that period.

What This Route Is Not

This is not a local employment visa and not a general remote-worker category for anyone who can work from home. It does not guarantee entry merely because an employer is foreign. Andorra requires quota availability, favorable economy-ministry classification, proof of housing, sufficient means, private coverage, at least 90 days of principal and effective residence per calendar year, and the post-approval local registration.

Next Steps

  1. Document how your work is location-independent.
  2. Prepare contracts, employer letters, client agreements, or business records showing the remote setup.
  3. Confirm the economy-ministry classification step before filing the residence application.
  4. Arrange housing, proof of economic means, and private coverage in Andorra.
  5. Gather criminal-record certificates and civil-status records.
  6. Apostille or legalize foreign official documents and plan to register with the local Comú within one month after approval.
