Digital Nomad Visas Ranked by Income Requirement
Key findings
- Albania, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, and Mauritius all sit at or below roughly $1,500/month for a single applicant.
- Europe clusters much higher: Spain, Cyprus, Malta, Greece, Portugal, Estonia, and Romania all require materially higher monthly income.
- Six pathways in Citizeo's dataset do not have a fixed monthly-income threshold, so they are listed separately rather than forced into the income ranking.
You can qualify for a digital nomad visa with a stated income threshold as low as ~$815/month (Albania), a fraction of the €3,000+ that Western Europe often demands. This report ranks remote-work pathways by the minimum monthly income you must show, then lists pathways where the monthly-income threshold is not fixed or is not currently stated in Citizeo's dataset.

Methodology
Figures come from Citizeo's structured dataset of citizenship and residency pathways, reflecting publicly available rules as of June 2026. Where pathways are ranked by cost, mixed currencies are compared using approximate USD equivalents and amounts shown are the lowest qualifying option per pathway. Ranked tables use competition ranking: pathways with the same ranked value share a rank, and the next rank is skipped. Pathways without a fixed monthly-income threshold are listed separately instead of being assigned a numeric rank.
