Summary
A highly qualified job in certain sectors may qualify you for Cyprus's EU Blue Card. The current sectors are information and communication technology, pharmaceutical research, and eligible shipping roles. A high salary in another sector is not enough.
For a candidate in one of those sectors, the application brings together the proposed job, accepted qualifications, and the national pay threshold. It can also support a household move through separate family applications. Any later move to another European country still has to meet that destination’s Blue Card rules.
Eligibility
A local employer must offer a highly qualified position for at least six months. The signed contract or binding offer must meet the current national Blue Card requirements.
The job must pay at least €43,632 under the published decree. The job must be in information and communication technology, pharmaceutical research, or shipping, excluding captains and ship crews. A high salary outside these sectors does not satisfy the current admission scope.
The applicant needs a recognized higher professional qualification or an experience-based qualification accepted under Cyprus’s Blue Card rules.
-
Eligible sector ICT, pharmaceutical research, or covered shipping roles.
-
Qualifying employment Check contract duration and the published salary requirement.
-
Proof of qualifications Provide recognized qualifications and required personal records.
A high salary outside the eligible sectors does not establish Blue Card eligibility.
What This Route Allows
The Blue Card allows you to live and work in Cyprus in qualifying employment. Blue Card rules can also support family applications and later mobility, subject to the requirements of the destination.
For a household, the employment application and each family member’s application need to be considered together. A Blue Card held by one person does not replace the documents required for a spouse or child.
What This Route Is Not
This is not permission to work throughout Europe immediately, nor a route for a job search without an offer. National Blue Card rules differ, and a salary accepted in one country may not qualify in another.
Next Steps
The employer can check the job’s eligibility, contract period, and current salary benchmark before filing. The applicant supplies qualification, identity, health-coverage, and other required records.
