Summary

If you have completed an eligible Czech degree or qualifying scientific research, this permit may give you time to find work or develop a business. You need to meet the rules for your previous studies or research and the application deadline.

The connection to the Czech education or research system is essential. Someone with a degree from another country cannot use this route simply to arrive and search for work. The application follows an existing Czech permission and must be made before that permission expires.

File before the current permit expires
  1. Complete eligible study or research Obtain the Czech completion record and confirm the corresponding residence category.
  2. Apply in time File in person before the current study or research permit expires.
  3. Build the next basis If approved Use the approved period to seek work or establish a business.

A degree from another country alone does not establish eligibility for this Czech route.

Could this pathway work for you?

Eligibility

Applicants must have completed the relevant accredited university program or scientific research and hold the corresponding Czech long-term residence permit. An application must be submitted before that permit expires.

The new stay must be used for its stated purpose: seeking work or establishing a business. Completion records, a valid passport and the other application evidence remain necessary even when the applicant already has a Czech residence card.

What This Route Allows

The permit lasts up to nine months and cannot be extended. Graduates of accredited Czech university programs have free access to the labor market and can work or do business under the conditions described by the Interior Ministry. A later business-residence application can use the specific exception to the usual prior-residence requirement.

What This Route Is Not

This is not a general overseas jobseeker visa or a guarantee of employment. The graduate work-access rule should not be assumed solely from having completed a research project. Nine months is a transition period, so a longer-term plan still requires a suitable next residence basis.

Next Steps

  1. Obtain the university completion or research-completion document.
  2. File in person with the Interior Ministry before the current study or research permit expires.
  3. Use the permitted period to establish the employment or business basis for the next application.
