Summary

After eligible higher education in Spain, you may be able to stay while looking for work suited to your qualification or developing a business project. This gives time to prepare for a possible work or business application; the later permission has its own rules.

It also needs funding. This particular residence permission does not authorize work, so it should not be confused with graduate schemes elsewhere that let a person immediately take any job. A suitable offer or business opportunity leads to the next application, not automatic permission to start earning.

Eligibility

This route requires completion of qualifying Spanish higher education at degree level or above and the relevant prior study authorization. The applicant must satisfy the published filing window, background and entry conditions, and provide completion and insurance evidence.

Resources must cover the intended period without relying on work under this permit. Family members who remain with the graduate bring additional support requirements, so the student’s earlier budget may not be sufficient for the household’s new permission.

What This Route Allows

The residence authorization provides up to 24 months to seek suitable employment or prepare a business project. Family who accompanied the student may remain under the applicable conditions. Once a qualifying opportunity is secured, the graduate must obtain the residence-and-work authorization appropriate to it.

What This Route Is Not

This permission does not itself allow employment or self-employment. It is not a general jobseeker visa for graduates from universities outside Spain, and it cannot be treated as a renewable substitute for a work permit. Its value is the lawful time to arrange a qualifying next step.
