Yes, with an employer able to meet foreign-worker hiring requirements
Permit
Permit B for residence with approved paid work

Summary

The Gambia’s Permit B allows residence for approved local employment, with an employer that can meet the foreign-worker hiring rules. An adult applicant supplies the employment and personal records for a permit covering the actual job; a signed offer alone does not complete the authorization.

Eligibility

You must be 18 or older for this adult application. Confirm the separate arrangements for a younger applicant.

Have the employer check its permission to hire a foreign worker, payroll-tax evidence, and any other labor approval needed for your role. Prepare your passport, identity and immigration-status records, an official statement from your embassy, and the Gambia Revenue Authority payroll-tax receipt.

Applicants from outside the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) also need an alien card, an identity document for foreign residents. Ask whether you need to extend your entry permission while the permit is being processed.

Preparing to live and work in The Gambia
  1. Confirm the job and employer’s hiring approval Check the labor requirements for your position.
  2. Gather the work and residence records Prepare payroll-tax, embassy, identity, and any additional card documents.
  3. Obtain Permit B and follow its conditions Maintain lawful stay while waiting and start only with the required approvals.

A job offer or a pending permit application does not authorize work or an overstay.

What This Route Allows

With the required approvals, you can live in The Gambia and work in the job they cover for the approved period. Check the conditions and expiry dates of the work and residence permissions.

What This Route Is Not

An offer, business visit, or entry visa alone does not authorize employment. This route does not promise unrestricted job changes, permanent residence, citizenship, or work rights for accompanying family members. A pending application does not remove the need to keep your stay lawful.

Next Steps

  1. Confirm the job and the employer’s ability to obtain the required foreign-worker approval.
  2. Gather employer, payroll-tax, embassy, and personal records and arrange the additional identity card if needed.
  3. Apply for Permit B and extend your existing stay if required while waiting.
  4. Start work only with the required approvals and follow their conditions.
