Eligibility

Your residence history

Obtain the official residence certificate required by Article 27. Tourist stays and time spent waiting for an initial residence decision do not establish the five-year period.

Your current activity and guarantee

Provide the notarized statement and evidence of your activity required by Article 27. An up-to-date guarantor record is normally needed. Religious residents have specific exceptions, and refugees have separate provisions.

Your application documents

Prepare the permanent-residence application, identity and background records, and residence certificate. If you held worker or investor residence, check which continuing employment or investment records are needed for dependents.

Official residence certification supports the five-year transition
  1. At least five years Hold qualifying temporary residence Preserve permits and resolve gaps in the official history.
  2. Before applying Obtain status certification Request the immigration record establishing the completed period.
  3. Separate application Apply for permanent residence Document current activity, the required guarantee or exception, and personal records.

Visitor time or a pending residence application does not establish the required period. Old cards alone may not complete the evidence.
