Honduras Investor Residence
At a glance
An accepted investment of at least USD $50,000 can qualify you for Honduran residence. You also need a separate guarantee deposit of at least USD $5,000, a study showing that the project is workable, an investment timetable, and investor-registration evidence. Savings alone do not establish a qualifying project.
- Who can apply
- Investors with a documented lawful project
- Evidence needed
- Investment, funding, and identity records
- Investment and guarantee
- At least USD $50,000 invested, plus a separate Central Bank guarantee deposit of at least USD $5,000
Summary
Honduras’s investor residence is for someone committing funds to a real, lawful project that the authorities accept. The applicant needs at least USD $50,000 invested, a separate Central Bank guarantee deposit of at least USD $5,000, and evidence that the project is workable. A purchase or transfer does not by itself approve the residence application.
-
Define a lawful qualifying investment Check whether the proposed activity is permitted for a foreign investor.
-
Prepare the project evidence Document the feasibility study, investment schedule, and investor registration.
-
Arrange the separate guarantee and apply Use the current deposit-certificate and residence requirements.
Available savings alone are not an accepted project, and investment residence is not citizenship.
Eligibility
A permitted investment
The investment must be in an activity open to foreign investors. Property-ownership and business restrictions still apply.
A separate guarantee deposit
Article 35 requires a Central Bank of Honduras deposit certificate for at least USD $5,000 to guarantee completion of the investment. This is additional to the USD $50,000 investment. Releasing the deposit requires proof that you carried out the project under the prescribed procedure.
Project and registration records
Provide a feasibility study explaining how the project will work, a timetable for making the investment, and proof of registration or an application to the investor register.
Personal documents
Through the required representative, submit the general residence application with your passport, authenticated personal and background records, and health and immigration documents.
What This Route Allows
Approval allows residence as an investor. The investment is subject to verification; retain the records needed to establish that the project was implemented.
What This Route Is Not
This is not citizenship by investment or unrestricted permission to pursue any business. Restricted activities remain restricted, and buying an asset does not by itself approve the immigration application.
Next Steps
- Confirm that the activity and ownership arrangements are permitted for a foreign investor.
- Prepare the feasibility study, investment timetable, and registration evidence.
- Confirm the procedure for the separate guarantee deposit before transferring it.
- Apply through the required representative and keep records showing that you complete the investment.
