Indonesia Investor Residence
At a glance
Indonesia’s Golden Visa offers eligible investors five or ten years of residence. Company founders, financial-asset investors, and property buyers follow different rules and must maintain the required investment.
- Business investment
- USD $2.5 million for five years or USD $5 million for ten
- Financial assets
- USD $350,000 for five years or USD $700,000 for ten
- Property option
- An eligible USD $1 million apartment or condominium for ten years
Summary
Indonesia’s Golden Visa provides residence through approved investment, with different thresholds for individual business founders and portfolio investors. Current E28B rules use company capital or investment of at least USD $2.5 million for five years or USD $5 million for ten, while E28C uses specified bonds, listed shares, mutual funds, or a high-value apartment or condominium.
Company founders must already hold shares in a foreign company, provide audited ownership and revenue evidence, and establish the Indonesian company within 90 days of arrival. Asset investors must check the accepted ownership evidence before buying. Both options require proof that the investment funds came from a lawful source.
Eligibility
Starting an Indonesian company: E28B
The company capital or investment requirement is at least USD $2.5 million for five years, or USD $5 million for ten years.
You must already own shares in a foreign company and provide audited evidence of that ownership and the company’s revenue. You also commit to establishing the Indonesian company within 90 days of arrival.
Financial assets or property: E28C
The financial-asset option requires at least USD $350,000 for five years, or USD $700,000 for ten years, in the specified bonds, listed shares, or mutual funds.
An eligible apartment or condominium worth at least USD $1 million is another ten-year option. The current central checklist asks for proof that you own the accepted assets, so check the evidence and timing before transferring money or buying property.
Requirements for either option
You must prove ownership and the lawful source of the funds, use an accepted investment form, and meet the remaining immigration requirements. The covered individual-investor categories do not require a sponsor.
-
Choose the investment category Decide between the company-founder and accepted asset or property options.
-
Verify the amount and ownership evidence Check the exact asset rules and document the lawful source of funds.
-
Apply and meet the ongoing commitments After approval, complete any company deadline and maintain the required investment.
Each investment category has its own requirements. Moving funds does not guarantee a visa.
What This Route Allows
Approval gives residence for five or ten years, depending on your category and investment. An eligible company founder can carry out the director or commissioner role allowed by that status.
Eligible family members may apply under the current accompanying-family rules.
What This Route Is Not
These are separate investment options. Meeting one option’s amount does not mean a different type of asset will qualify.
The visa does not buy citizenship or remove the obligation to maintain the required investment. A quick check is also not immigration approval.
Next Steps
- Choose the exact E28B or E28C category before committing funds.
- Verify the accepted asset, minimum amount, evidence, and five- or ten-year requirements.
- Gather ownership, source-of-funds, company, and passport records, then apply through the official electronic system.
- For E28B, establish the Indonesian company within 90 days after arrival. Keep the required investment and records throughout your stay.
