Summary
Mongolia’s employment residence categories let a foreign worker live there for an approved job. The local employer arranges labor approval and supports the C-category application appropriate to the job and industry. After arrival, the worker must complete the residence filing within the required period. The approved employment remains the basis of the stay.
Eligibility
Choose the right work category
The employer must obtain work permission and identify the matching C category. Mongolia uses different categories for construction, education and technology, finance and law, health, manufacturing, and other sectors. Do not choose a code just because another employer used it.
Ask who will submit each application and when you may legally start. Check whether your qualifications need official certification or your job needs a professional license.
Prepare the residence application
You need the employer’s written request, work permit, passport, local address record, and supporting entry-application documents. The current checklist also requires a job description matching the work you will do.
Apply for residence within 21 days after entry. Complete the first-time identity and biometric checks, including any required fingerprint or photo collection.

What This Route Allows
Approval lets you live in Mongolia for the approved job and period. Read the permit for the employer, activities, dates, and conditions it covers.
Changing employers or duties may require new approval. Family members need a separate assessment of whether they can join you and whether they may work.
What This Route Is Not
Visa-free tourist entry does not allow employment. Registering a company or receiving a business invitation does not replace work approval.
This is not citizenship or an automatic grant of permanent residence.
