Summary
Peru’s investor residence category lets qualifying investors live there to establish, develop, or administer a lawful business. The application must reflect an actual investment in that activity. The investment must be documented through the prescribed financial and company-registration process.
For the published in-country application, the international transfer and company-registration records are central. Buying existing shares does not replace the qualifying investment.
Eligibility
The published in-country procedure requires the investment in one international transfer through a financial institution supervised by Peru’s banking authority. Buying existing shares is not a substitute for the required qualifying investment.
The company and capital increase must be registered with Peru’s public-records authority, Sunarp. A new company needs its formation deed; an existing company needs the capital-increase deed and applicable tax and operating-license evidence.
The application requires a valid passport or accepted travel document, applicable Interpol and criminal-record evidence, and the current immigration records. Exceptions apply to some minors and people unable to express their own wishes. Documents must meet the authentication and translation rules.
-
Make a qualifying business investment Confirm the required investment rather than simply available funds.
-
Complete the required transfer Use the required international disbursement through a supervised institution.
-
Register the company and investment Provide Sunarp and applicable formation or capital-increase records.
The described in-country procedure does not treat buying existing shares as a substitute.
What This Route Allows
If approved, you can live in Peru to establish, develop, or run the qualifying investment for 365 days. You can apply to renew if you continue to meet the requirements. Company, employment, licensing, and tax rules still apply.
What This Route Is Not
This is not citizenship by investment or a passive property-purchase visa. A visa does not remove company, employment, or tax obligations.
Next Steps
- Check that the business and investment meet Migraciones’ current requirements before transferring funds.
- Arrange the required international transfer and company or capital-increase registration.
- Gather the company, tax, operating-license, identity, and background records on the checklist.
- Use the in-country change process if eligible. If you are abroad, follow the corresponding initial-visa process.
- Check the approval dates and prepare for renewal.
