Peru Permanent Residence

Peru Residency
Pathway overview

At a glance

Peru’s ordinary permanent-residence route requires three consecutive years in qualifying worker, investor, researcher, or religious residence. You must also meet the activity and financial requirements for that category.

Summary

Peru’s permanent-residence procedure covers qualifying former periods as a worker, investor, researcher, or religious resident, so the applicant’s preceding status determines the available branch. Each branch needs continuing activity and financial evidence. Three years in another category, including study, do not by themselves meet this permanent-residence route.

Could this pathway work for you?

Eligibility

This ordinary process covers worker, investor, researcher, and religious residence. Student and tourist time do not qualify. MERCOSUR residence has a separate process for moving to indefinite residence.

The supporting records differ:

Follow the current checklist for your category. You also need a valid passport or accepted travel document, immigration records, and the applicable INTERPOL and criminal-record evidence. Some minors and people unable to express their own wishes have exceptions. Foreign documents must meet authentication and translation rules.

What This Route Allows

If approved, you can live in Peru indefinitely, subject to the rules for keeping permanent residence.

What This Route Is Not

This is not citizenship or an automatic upgrade after three years. The applicant must still satisfy the branch-specific requirements and the rules for retaining residence.

Next Steps

  1. Gather the permits showing your category and three consecutive years of residence.
  2. Check the current requirements for your work, investment, research, or religious category.
  3. Prepare the financial, activity, identity, and background records, with authentication and translations where required.
  4. Apply through Migraciones’ digital procedure and respond to requests for additional documents.
