PNG Business Investor Visa
At a glance
If you plan to run an eligible business or investment in Papua New Guinea, you may qualify for the business-person or investor category of Working Resident permission. You need local business support and the required financial guarantee.
- Support
- Local sponsorship and the required maintenance guarantee bond
- Business checks
- Confirm registration, investment approval, and permitted activity
Summary
Papua New Guinea’s business-person or investor permission allows an approved stay for a local business activity, with support from a local sponsor. The file must address business registration, relevant investment approvals, and the required financial guarantee. The applicant’s actual operating role needs to fit the activity being approved.
Eligibility
The current checklist includes a written commitment from the sponsor, a maintenance guarantee bond to secure the required support, your application, passport, and the prescribed fee.
Confirm the business registration, investment approval, and work you will be allowed to do. The actual activity must qualify; there is no single investment amount presented here as enough for every case.
-
Confirm the business and immigration category Check the investment, registration, and permitted activity.
-
Prepare sponsorship and financial support Include the required bond and personal application documents.
-
Obtain the required approvals before operating Follow both immigration and separate business conditions.
A short business visit and Working Resident permission serve different purposes.
What This Route Allows
Approval allows the specified business or investment activity and a temporary stay for the dates granted. Work is limited to the accepted activity, and family members need to meet their own eligibility and document requirements.
What This Route Is Not
This does not grant citizenship or automatic permanent residence. A short business-visit visa for meetings or negotiations is different from permission to live and operate a business.
Registering a company alone does not grant Working Resident approval.
Next Steps
- Confirm the correct category and whether the business activity qualifies.
- Prepare the sponsor’s commitment, support and bond records, and personal documents.
- Obtain immigration approval and the separate business permissions before operating.
