Summary
Poland's intra-corporate transferee permit allows a non-EU manager, specialist, or graduate trainee to transfer temporarily from a business outside the EU to a branch or company in the same group in Poland. The Polish host entity files the application.
This is a temporary group assignment: the worker remains connected to the overseas employer and is expected to return to a group entity outside the EU after the transfer.
Eligibility
The role must be one of the ICT categories:
- a manager directing the host entity or a major part of it;
- a specialist with essential, uncommon knowledge; or
- a trainee employee with a qualifying higher-education diploma and a structured development program.
Managers and specialists normally need at least 12 continuous months of prior employment with the overseas enterprise or group. Trainees normally need at least 6 months. The host and overseas business must belong to the same enterprise or group.
The application also requires assignment and employment terms, qualifications or experience, compliant pay, health insurance, accommodation, and evidence that the worker can return to a non-EU group entity afterward.
What This Route Allows
Approval permits residence and the specified intra-group work in Poland. The maximum total ICT period is normally 3 years for managers and specialists and 1 year for trainees.
Short-term mobility to another participating EU state may be possible under separate ICT mobility rules. The worker and host must follow the notification or permit requirements of the second country.
What This Route Is Not
This is not ordinary recruitment into a Polish company, a transfer between unrelated businesses, or an indefinite assignment. It does not cover a role outside the manager, specialist, or trainee definitions.
The ICT period does not automatically become permanent residence. Once the maximum is reached, the worker generally needs to leave or qualify for a different immigration category.
Next Steps
- Confirm the corporate relationship between the overseas employer and Polish host.
- Classify the role using the official manager, specialist, or trainee definition.
- Document the required 12- or 6-month prior employment period.
- Prepare the assignment letter, employment terms, qualifications, pay, insurance, housing, and return evidence.
- Have the Polish host file with the competent authority and observe the worker's lawful-stay rules during processing.
