Pitcairn Family Settlement Visa
At a glance
Pitcairn’s two-year settlement visa allows people with a close family member lawfully living on the island to seek approval to settle permanently.
- Basis
- Close family lawfully resident on Pitcairn
- Prior stay
- At least three months in the previous year, unless waived
- Support and checks
- Funds or sponsorship and the required health, character, and insurance records
Summary
Eligible close relatives of lawful Pitcairn residents can seek family settlement to make a permanent home on the island. The applicant normally needs at least three months of lawful local residence in the previous year, or an approved waiver from the Governor. A future visit plan cannot replace that evidence.
The two-year settlement visa is an intermediate permission, with support, health, character and insurance requirements. It is not immediate permanent residence. Confirm the work conditions on the actual settlement approval before accepting employment.

What This Route Allows
A two-year settlement visa if approved. Permanent residence requires a later application and its own residence and absence conditions.
What This Route Is Not
This is not immediate permanent residence, citizenship, or approval simply for expressing interest. A long-term visitor visa does not authorize work. Ask Immigration to confirm work conditions on the settlement permission.
