Summary
Students accepted by an eligible university or other higher education institution in Uzbekistan can apply for an A1 student visa. This is the regular student category and can be issued for up to one year with the required education-authority support.
Ask the institution how it will support your application and what you will need to do if the course lasts longer.
Eligibility
You need confirmed admission and the required institutional and official support. The institution should explain its supporting request, the current application checklist, and the renewal process.
Prepare the required identity, financial, and medical records, along with any translations or officially certified documents. Arrange funds for tuition and living costs.

A1 is temporary student permission, even where an English heading uses the word permanent.
What This Route Allows
The approved A1 visa lets you study and stay temporarily for the period granted. Keep your enrollment and immigration documents current.
For a longer course, arrange further permission before the initial visa expires. Family members need separate applications if they plan to accompany you.
What This Route Is Not
Some English descriptions call A1 the “permanent student” category. That label does not mean permanent residence. STD is a separate student-exchange category and also does not grant permanent residence.
Student permission does not provide unrestricted local work rights or guarantee a period to look for work after graduation. Permanent residence and citizenship have separate requirements.
Next Steps
- Obtain admission and ask the institution to confirm the A1 application and official support required for your course.
- Prepare the invitation or support documents, identity records, and the rest of the current checklist.
- Complete visa and local formalities, and arrange any further permission before your approved stay ends.
