Bermuda Nonworking Residence
At a glance
People who can support themselves without employment may apply for annual residence in Bermuda.
- Financial support
- Evidence that you can pay for your stay without working, plus required insurance
- Employment
- No taking or seeking employment
Summary
Bermuda’s annual nonworking residence lets an approved applicant live on the island using independent support, subject to review of their resources and plans. The application must show how living costs will be met without taking or seeking employment on the island.
The category should not be assumed to cover foreign remote work. Bermuda’s separate Work From Bermuda program closed to new applications on February 28, 2025, and the annual nonworking permission does not replace that former program.
