Summary
Citizens of Barbados, Dominica, or Saint Vincent and the Grenadines can live and work in Belize indefinitely under CARICOM full free movement. Entry checks and local registration still apply. A job offer, approved skills category, and CARICOM Skills Certificate are not required. Qualifying family members need relationship evidence and their own entry documentation; this check evaluates the principal citizen’s route.
Ask for the correct passport stamp when entering. Belize’s instructions still require a return ticket, so confirm the travel requirements before booking. Qualifying spouses and dependents may also be covered, with proof of their relationship.
-
Prepare arrival documents Qualifying CARICOM passport, return ticket, and relevant family records.
-
Record indefinite stay Request and retain the appropriate stamp when admitted.
-
Complete local registration Arrange Social Security and registrations for work or services.
Main applicants must be citizens of Barbados, Dominica, or Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Eligibility
This route requires the main applicant to hold citizenship of one of the three countries above, supported by a valid CARICOM passport. A Belize QRP status, residence in another participating country, or a pending citizenship application does not establish the citizenship-based right. No degree, approved occupational category, job offer, or minimum age is required by the arrangement.
You must be admissible and have a workable way to support the household. The regional rules permit refusal or removal on specified serious public-interest grounds or where a person is likely to depend on public funds for support. There is no fixed income amount stated in the full-movement guidance, but the ability to seek work does not itself pay for the period before you find it.
What This Route Allows
Belize records indefinite stay and the movement and employment right with a passport stamp at the port of entry. If you choose to settle or work, register with the Belize Social Security Board. A person already in Belize under an earlier immigration status can visit Immigration in Belmopan to claim the indefinite-stay stamp.
Belize's instructions extend indefinite residence and, where relevant, work without a residence or work permit to the eligible citizen's qualifying spouse who is not a citizen of a participating country and dependents. Bring their passports and documents establishing the relationship; confirm dependency eligibility before including an adult relative. School enrollment and access to services require their own records and registration.
What This Route Is Not
It is not Belizean citizenship or approval under the ordinary permanent-residence application process. Professional licensing, business rules, tax obligations, and social-security contributions remain separate matters.
The main applicant's citizenship does not automatically establish every relative's claim. A person who holds only US, Canadian, British, or another nonparticipating citizenship cannot use this principal route simply because they already live in Barbados or Dominica.

- Request and retain the indefinite-stay stamp when admitted under the arrangement.
- Register with the Social Security Board when settling or working, and complete the registrations needed for employment and services.
- If already resident under another status, arrange the status-recording step with Immigration in Belmopan.
