Summary

The file includes business registrations and current tax records. Activities reserved under the small-scale-trade rules cannot be used as the qualifying business.

Eligibility

Check the rules for foreign ownership and your industry. Prepare notarized company documents, RCCM commercial registration, national identification, current tax records, and any required social, training, and employer-association registrations. Show funds for running the business in a local bank.

ANAPI, the investment agency, lists six months of lawful stay before applying for residence. Ask DGM, the immigration authority, to confirm the application sequence and personal documents. If you plan to apply sooner, obtain DGM's specific confirmation that you may do so. Do not overstay or start unauthorized work while waiting.

Licensed professionals have a separate checklist. Its published USD $5,000 working-capital figure is not a standard price for a business owner's residence.

Running a business in DR Congo
  1. Check your business Confirm the activity and foreign-ownership rules.
  2. Prepare records and confirm timing Gather registrations and ask DGM when you may apply.
  3. Apply for residence Follow the business, work, and residence conditions.

Company registration alone does not authorize residence or work.

What This Route Allows

ANAPI's published guide describes a three-year ordinary residence visa. Your permission covers the approved business activity and period. Obtain any separate work or professional approval needed for your role.

What This Route Is Not

Registering a company, passively holding shares, or buying property alone does not grant residence. This is not citizenship by investment and does not guarantee permanent residence.

Next Steps

  1. Confirm that your activity, foreign ownership, and role are allowed.
  2. Complete the business registrations and approvals, and gather financial and personal records.
  3. Confirm when you may apply with DGM, obtain residence permission, and keep your records and other approvals current.
