Summary
Curaçao’s @HOME program lets eligible remote workers stay for up to six months while working for an employer, their own company, or clients abroad. A further six-month extension may be approved separately. You need work records, financial support, valid travel documents, and appropriate insurance.
Dutch and U.S. citizens should compare the separate admission arrangements available to them. This remote-worker permission does not allow local employment.
-
Up to 6 months Initial permission Document qualifying foreign work, remote-work permission, support, and insurance.
-
Before expiry Extension request Follow the current procedure before the initial stay ends.
-
Up to 6 more months Additional stay If approved Continue within the approved conditions.
An extension is subject to approval; Dutch and U.S. citizens have separate admission arrangements to compare.
Eligibility
- Documented work for a foreign employer, through a foreign company, or under qualifying foreign client arrangements.
- Ability and permission to perform the work remotely from Curaçao.
- Evidence of financial support, the work arrangement, valid travel documents, and appropriate insurance.
- Compliance with the current application procedure and approved period of stay. The Immigration Department’s general first-application instructions say to await the decision abroad.
What This Route Allows
An approved remote-worker stay lets you live temporarily in Curaçao while continuing the qualifying foreign work. Family members need their own supporting documentation and applications under the applicable process.
The six-month extension is a separate decision. Arrange accommodation and travel around the permission actually granted, rather than treating a potential extension as guaranteed.
What This Route Is Not
It is not permission for local employment, an indefinite residence permit, or citizenship. Retired applicants with passive income and Dutch or U.S. citizens have other routes worth checking. Do not treat immigration approval as a complete answer to tax, payroll, or employer-compliance questions.
Next Steps
- Confirm the work arrangement and permission to perform it from Curaçao.
- Collect the employer declaration, contracts or assignment evidence, financial proof, insurance, and family records if needed.
- Check the current Immigration Department application channel and application location.
- Apply for any extension before the initial permission ends.
