Certain highly qualified IT and marketing professionals can use Czechia's Digital Nomad Program. The industry ministry first decides whether you qualify for the program. If accepted, you apply separately for the appropriate long-term visa: an other-purposes visa for a foreign employee or a business visa for a freelancer.

Summary

Czechia's Digital Nomad Program helps selected IT and marketing professionals apply for a long-term visa to live there while carrying out qualifying remote or freelance work. Eligibility is limited by nationality, professional background and pay. Employees need a qualifying foreign employer and remote-work arrangement; freelancers need the required Czech trade structure and service contracts.

Acceptance by the industry ministry is not immigration permission. The subsequent visa has a different purpose for employees and freelancers, and its normal document requirements still apply. The program is not available to every remote occupation, and recent Czech long-term visa or residence history can prevent eligibility.

Program inclusion comes before the visa application
  1. Check the program category Match your citizenship, IT or marketing qualifications, income, and employee or freelancer setup to the program rules.
  2. Request program inclusion Submit the required evidence to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
  3. Apply separately for the visa After inclusion, file the correct long-term visa application: other purposes for the qualifying foreign employee, or business for the qualifying freelancer.

Program acceptance is not a visa or permission to move. The later immigration application still has its own requirements and approval decision.

What This Route Allows

Program inclusion provides confirmation and a recommendation that serves as proof of the purpose of stay, an opportunity to submit the long-term visa or residence application at a Czech embassy or consulate, and a 45-day processing target for a complete application. A spouse, registered partner, and qualifying child can apply at the same time under the applicable family, study, or other-purpose category.

What This Route Is Not

The program is not itself a visa or residence permit. It is not open to every nationality or remote profession, there is no legal entitlement to program inclusion, and inclusion does not guarantee approval of the later visa application.

  1. Confirm that the primary applicant holds an included citizenship and has not held Czech long-term status during the preceding year.
  2. Match the work to the employee or freelancer definition and the IT or marketing qualification rule.
  3. Prepare the employer-size, remote-work, education or experience, contract, income, and trade-registration evidence that applies.
  4. Apply to the Ministry of Industry and Trade for program inclusion.
  5. After inclusion, attend the assigned embassy appointment and file the complete long-term visa application with all documents required by immigration law.
