Summary
Foreign workers with a qualifying Danish job can use the Supplementary Pay Limit Scheme to live and work in Denmark at a lower salary threshold than the ordinary Pay Limit Scheme, subject to additional recruitment and economic conditions. In 2026 the minimum is DKK 446,000 annually for qualifying full-time employment with Danish-standard terms and any required professional authorization.
The job must have appeared on both Jobnet and EURES for at least two weeks within the prescribed period. The national unemployment measure must also remain within the scheme's limit. A salary above the threshold therefore does not establish eligibility by itself, and the permit stays tied to the approved job.
Eligibility
- Have a full-time offer with Danish-standard pay and conditions and any required professional authorization.
- Meet the annually adjusted pay threshold. The employer must have advertised the job on both Jobnet and EURES for at least two weeks before you apply, with the posting no more than six months before your application.
- Denmark's seasonally adjusted gross unemployment rate must average no more than 3.75% over the three months before you apply.
- Meet the criminal-fine restrictions and Danish salary-account rules.
-

Meeting the pay floor alone is insufficient. This supplementary route has additional conditions beyond the ordinary Pay Limit Scheme.

The January scheme is a separate application with collective-agreement, employer-certification and nationality conditions. It does not replace this scheme’s current salary threshold or extra requirements.
Timing: SIRI states that the new scheme starts January 1, 2027. Employers need the certification for this particular scheme; existing Fast-track certification is not sufficient.
What This Route Allows
Reside and work in Denmark in the approved role. Duration depends on the contract and decision.
What This Route Is Not
The permit is tied to the approved job. It does not grant unrestricted work or immediate permanent residence.
Next Steps
Ask the employer to verify eligible pay components, retain the advertisements, and check the live unemployment figure before filing.
