Faroe Islands Fast Track Work Permit
At a glance
A job with a specifically approved Faroese Fast Track employer may let you use this work and residence process. The employer must hold Fast Track approval. Being an established business or being approved under the EU-worker scheme is not enough.

Summary
The Faroese Fast Track scheme lets approved employers recruit overseas workers through a dedicated process. It is the employer’s specific Fast Track approval that opens the route; being a well-established business or holding approval under the EU scheme is not enough.
The arrangement still protects local employment standards. The job normally needs forty hours a week, with pay and terms appropriate to the occupation. The worker also needs the actual residence and work permit before starting, even when the application can be filed from a legal stay in the islands.
-
Verify current employer approval Check the official list and any suspension affecting this scheme.
-
Prepare the compliant contract and joint file Document duties, hours, pay, qualifications, and personal evidence.
-
Wait for the actual permit Begin work only after the required residence-and-work permission is granted.
A company's EU-scheme approval does not establish Fast Track approval. Monitor continuing job and scheme conditions for renewal.
Eligibility
The employer must be approved for this scheme and the offered job must satisfy its conditions. The contract should identify duties, salary, hours and the other employment terms, with any required professional-registration evidence.
The Immigration Office publishes employer approvals and any suspension notice. The scheme is therefore a current administrative arrangement to verify at application time, rather than an unconditional right attached to a company forever.
What This Route Allows
Permission lasts up to one year at a time and is tied to the approved job and employer. Timely extension is possible while the scheme and the employment conditions allow it. Qualifying family members may apply separately, including through the published in-country filing provisions where applicable.
What This Route Is Not
Fast Track does not mean immediate work authorization. It also does not cover a different employer, a new position or an extra job without the necessary permission. A suspension can require a future application under the ordinary work rules.
Next Steps
- Check the current approved-employer list and scheme availability.
- Prepare the joint employer-worker application and a compliant contract.
- Wait for permission before starting and monitor the job and scheme conditions before renewal.
