Summary
France has a one-year "job search/company creation" status for some recent graduates of French institutions and some people finishing a Talent researcher stay.
It is meant to give you time to find qualified work or build a company project connected to your French studies or research. It is not a general job-seeker visa for someone with no recent French degree or research stay.
Eligibility
You may be a fit if:
- You are not French or using EU/EEA/Swiss free-movement rights.
- You recently completed a qualifying French degree, generally at master's level or a listed professional level.
- Or you held a Talent researcher card and completed the research.
- You are using the status to look for work or develop a company project connected to your studies or research.
- You apply within the required timing window.
- You can provide the required identity, residence, insurance, degree, and project documents.
What This Route Allows
The status generally lasts one year. During that year, you can look for work or build a company creation project related to your studies or research.
It can bridge into another French residence route. If you find a qualifying job, create a company, or fit a Talent category, you can then look at the appropriate work, business, or Talent permit.
What This Route Is Not
This is not a renewable long-term residence route by itself. It is a transition status.
It also does not cover any degree from anywhere in the world. The French degree or Talent researcher history is the reason the route exists.
Next Steps
- Confirm whether your French degree or Talent researcher stay fits the official category.
- Check the deadline for applying from inside France or after leaving France.
- Decide whether your plan is job search, company creation, or both.
- Gather degree, residence, insurance, passport, and project documents.
- Before the year ends, plan the next permit that would fit your job or company.
