Isle of Man Dependent-Family Visa
At a glance
A worker in the Isle of Man may be able to bring a partner or children, depending on the worker's permission. Restrictions introduced in June 2026 affect new Worker Migrant cases, so check the family rules alongside the worker's application.

Summary
Eligible relatives may join a worker or business migrant in the Isle of Man as dependents when the main applicant's immigration category allows family applications. For new Worker Migrant cases affected by the June 2026 changes, the actual Higher Skilled classification matters; an employer's general description of a job as skilled is insufficient.
Partners and children must prove the qualifying relationship and support arrangements, with custody and parental circumstances relevant for children. Permission remains linked to the sponsor's status. This route is separate from joining a British or settled partner.
Eligibility
The sponsor must hold or qualify for a route that permits dependents. A current worker application needs the qualifying job classification; a general statement that the role is skilled is insufficient.
The applicant must prove the particular partner or child relationship and meet the relevant support requirements. When children are involved, custody and the circumstances of the other parent can affect the application.
More about this route
Business migrants and qualifying workers can support eligible partner and child applications, but the sponsor’s precise route and grant date determine the rules. The dependent permission remains linked to that sponsor’s status and the continuing family relationship.
-
Sponsor route Confirm the precise worker or business-migrant category.
-
Applicable restrictions Check the job classification and relevant application or grant dates.
-
Dependent evidence Document each partner or child and the required support.
The June 2026 Worker Migrant restrictions make the sponsor's exact circumstances important.
The main applicant’s transfer category will matter to the family application
The main applicant’s transfer category will matter to the family application
A family planning to accompany a new company transferee from November 2 will need to check the Global Business Mobility dependent rules. Protection for an existing ICT holder does not establish that a new transfer carries the same settlement prospects.
Timing: The government schedules the new routes and sponsor-licensing policy for November 2, 2026. The closure concerns new ICT applications, not the ordinary Worker Migrant route as a whole.
What This Route Allows
An approved dependent normally receives permission linked to the sponsor’s current grant. The conditions on the issued permission govern work and study. Continuing eligibility is needed for an extension, and a relationship or sponsor-status change may require a different application.
What This Route Is Not
This is not a family visa available to every Worker Migrant household. It is also separate from joining a British or settled partner. A sponsor’s application or an employer’s promise to help does not itself authorize the family to live on the island.
Next Steps
- Check the sponsor’s exact route, job classification and relevant application dates.
- Prepare the family and financial evidence required for each applicant.
- Apply for dependent permission and review the issued conditions before making work or schooling commitments.
