Cambodia Employer-Supported Work Visa
At a glance
A Cambodian employer can support your entry, work-permit, and stay applications for an actual job. The Type E entry visa alone does not give permission to work.
- Job offer required?
- Yes, with employer support
- Passport
- At least six months remaining for the visa application
- Labor approvals
- Applicable quota, work permit, employment card, and fitness requirements
Summary
A job with a Cambodian employer can support the applications needed to enter, work, and stay in Cambodia. The employer must help with both the labor approvals and the immigration process.
The ordinary Type E visa is a business-entry category. The “E” does not mean an electronic visa, and this visa alone does not let you work.
Eligibility
You need an actual job offer, employer support, lawful entry, and permission to stay. The employer must address the applicable foreign-worker quota: the limit on foreign staff it is allowed to hire.
The labor process also includes a work permit, employment card, and fitness requirements. The embassy’s visa checklist asks for a passport valid for at least six more months and evidence of your business or employment purpose.
-
Confirm the job and employer approvals Check the foreign-worker quota and how a longer stay would be arranged.
-
Apply for entry and work documents Prepare the Type E visa, work permit, and employment card.
-
Keep both sets of permission valid Start work only when authorized and extend your stay before expiry.
The visa, work permit, and permission to stay each have their own requirements.
What This Route Allows
Once the separate approvals are in place, you can do the authorized job and stay for the period approved. The immigration documents and labor documents can have different expiry dates, so track both.
What This Route Is Not
The initial Type E stay is 30 days. The cited embassy guidance describes a further 30-day extension. It does not establish a six- or twelve-month stay for every worker; confirm the current longer-stay procedure with your employer before relying on it.
A tourist visa does not replace a work permit, and a work permit does not replace permission to remain in Cambodia.
Next Steps
- Ask the employer to confirm the job, its foreign-worker quota, and how it will help arrange any needed stay extension.
- Prepare the Type E application and the work-permit and employment-card documents.
- Obtain the required labor approval before working, and extend your immigration permission before it expires if you need to stay longer.
