Lithuania Skilled Worker Residence Card
At a glance
Lithuania’s EU Blue Card is for non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens taking highly qualified employment. A qualifying job, relevant education or recognized experience, and the Blue Card salary threshold are required.
- Job offer required?
- Yes; qualifying Lithuanian employment for at least six months
- Pay
- Normally 1.5 times the official average wage; 1.2 times for listed roles
- Qualifications
- Relevant higher education or accepted equivalent experience, plus professional recognition where the occupation requires it
Summary
Lithuania’s EU Blue Card supports highly qualified employment when the contract, duration, pay, and applicant’s qualifications meet its requirements. A search for work cannot replace the qualifying offer. This route combines residence and highly qualified employment, with conditions distinct from the ordinary worker permit.
-
Define the actual Lithuanian role Confirm duties, contract duration, and gross pay with the employer.
-
Check the current wage and qualification rules Verify any shortage-list classification and the accepted education or experience evidence.
-
Complete the MIGRIS Blue Card application Use the qualifying offer and the full employer and applicant document file.
A conditional pathway match is not work permission. Salary alone does not satisfy all Blue Card requirements.
Eligibility
EEA means the EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway.
- A Lithuanian employer offers highly qualified employment for at least six months.
- You have relevant higher education, or professional experience accepted as equivalent. The experience alternatives generally involve five years, or three years in the previous seven for qualifying ICT managers and specialists.
- Gross pay meets 1.5 times the latest published calendar-year average wage, or 1.2 times for an occupation on the official high-value shortage list. Confirm the current figure rather than using an older example on a guidance page.
- Regulated occupations require the appropriate professional recognition.
- You meet residence-application, insurance, and immigration entry requirements. Russian citizens, including dual citizens, must establish that their filing is permitted.
What This Route Allows
An approved permit allows residence and the authorized highly qualified work. The standard validity described by the EU portal is three years, with adjustments for shorter contracts. Changes of employer, family applications, and later mobility have their own procedures.
What This Route Is Not
This is not a remote-work visa, a general job-search visa, or permission to take any job in any EU country. Meeting the salary figure alone is insufficient. A conditional Citizeo result does not replace the job offer or government decision.
Next Steps
- Identify the exact job, duties, contract duration, and gross pay.
- Ask the employer to verify the current wage benchmark and any shortage-list classification.
- Gather qualification and experience evidence, then follow the MIGRIS Blue Card application checklist.
