Summary
Myanmar’s approved-investment employment route is for jobs with employers supported by the Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) or the relevant Special Economic Zone (SEZ) committee. It does not cover every company or business-visa holder.
It does not cover every company. Your employer must confirm that the process is available for the proposed job and location.
Eligibility
You need an offer from an employer covered by the MIC or SEZ process. The labor checklist includes:
- The MIC or SEZ recommendation and company records.
- Your employment contract, passport, and professional history.
- Any additional supporting documents required for registration.
Your employer must also arrange the appropriate visa and permission to stay. Check current processing arrangements before planning the assignment.
-
Check the employer and location Confirm MIC or SEZ support and the current processing arrangements.
-
Prepare registration and visa documents Include the employer recommendation, contract, and worker records.
-
Complete approvals and any extension Use the extension channel that matches your entry visa.
A business visa alone does not authorize employment or guarantee a long-term stay.
What This Route Allows
Together, the approvals can let you do the specified job and stay temporarily for the period granted. Keep both your foreign-worker registration and immigration permission valid.
What This Route Is Not
A business visa alone does not establish permission to work. The general single-entry business visa allows up to 70 days, not an automatic year of residence.
The online stay-extension service covers eligible business eVisa cases and requires you to remain in Myanmar during processing. If your entry visa does not fit that service, you need the appropriate separate application channel.
Next Steps
- Confirm the employer’s MIC or SEZ eligibility and the current process for your intended work location.
- Prepare the employer recommendation, contract, company records, foreign-worker registration documents, and visa application.
- Obtain the necessary approvals before relying on the job or stay permission. Arrange any extension through the process that applies to your actual entry visa.
