Summary
Mongolia’s business-investor categories let qualifying foreign investors reside there in connection with a local business. The company, investor contribution, and immigration application each have their own requirements.
Buying a home or registering a company without making the required contribution is not enough.
Eligibility
The business investment
The company must fit the official definition of a foreign-invested company: at least 25% foreign ownership and a contribution of at least USD $100,000 from each foreign investor. Document the company’s ownership and your own payment. Registration alone does not prove that the money has been invested.
The residence application
You also need the company’s written request and records, your identity and address documents, and the current health and financial evidence. The Immigration Agency asks for the company charter and relevant audit records. A new company may need different evidence from an established business, so check its checklist.
-
Check the company and investment Document the required foreign ownership and your contribution.
-
Prepare company and personal records Include the company request and the current financial and health evidence.
-
Apply for residence After arrival Submit within 21 days and complete the identity checks.
The investment threshold does not guarantee approval. Buying a home does not replace the business requirements.
What This Route Allows
B1 approval lets you live in Mongolia as an investor, initially for up to one year. Read your own permit for the approved dates and activities.
Renewal is a separate application. You must continue meeting the requirements and keep the supporting company records.
What This Route Is Not
This is not residence through buying property or citizenship through investment. A foreign company executive or someone in another company role may need a different B category.
The investment amount is only one requirement, not a guarantee of approval.
Next Steps
- Confirm the company and investor categories with the investment and immigration authorities.
- Gather records of ownership, transferred money, business activity, and your personal documents.
- Follow the correct entry process and apply for residence within 21 days after arrival.
- Complete the identity checks and keep the company records needed for renewal.
