Summary
Namibia’s investor-business permit is a residence option for applicants proposing an accepted local business investment. The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board reviews the project before immigration decides the permit application. This process began in September 2026, but detailed investment criteria have not yet been publicly released. Obtain a project-specific assessment rather than assuming an advertised amount or company registration will qualify.
Eligibility
Apply through the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) using its required form and checklist. NIPDB must confirm your investor status and assess the project before Immigration considers the application.
Prepare business ownership and funds records, details of the actual or proposed operations, and the required personal documents. Ask NIPDB which investment criteria apply; a universal public minimum capital amount has not been released.
-
Confirm the investment requirements Ask NIPDB whether your plans fit the unpublished detailed criteria.
-
Submit for project assessment Provide business, funds, ownership, and personal records.
-
Complete immigration approval Pay the approved fee and follow the granted activity and dates.
NIPDB assessment comes before the final immigration decision.
What This Route Allows
If approved, you can live and work in Namibia for the covered business activity for up to five years. The actual permit determines your term.
What This Route Is Not
This is not a property-purchase visa, citizenship, or automatic permanent residence. The NAD 2,600 annual permit fee is separate from the money needed to establish a qualifying business. NIPDB's assessment is not the final immigration approval.
Next Steps
- Confirm the project's fit and prepare NIPDB's investor application and supporting business records.
- Submit to NIPDB for confirmation of investor status and assessment of the project.
- Complete the immigration process, pay the approved fee, and follow the permit's activity and expiry conditions.
