Summary

Eligible relatives can apply to live with family in Norway, with different rules for Norwegian or Nordic sponsors, other lawful residents, and people using European movement rights. The sponsor's exact status and the relationship determine the applicable age, financial and document requirements.

Some spouse, cohabitant and fiancé cases require both people to be at least twenty-four at decision, subject to exceptions. Current and past qualifying income are normally relevant, and social assistance does not count toward that support test. Use the precise family category before assuming that one relative's approval establishes another's eligibility.

EEA means the EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway.

Some spouse, cohabitant, and fiancé applications require both people to be at least 24 when the case is decided. Exceptions depend on when the relationship began and other circumstances. Use UDI’s guidance for your exact family category.
