Summary
If your spouse or parent holds an eligible Employment Pass or S Pass, you may be able to join them in Singapore on a Dependant's Pass. This covers legally married spouses and unmarried children under 21, including legally adopted children.
The worker must earn at least SGD 6,000 in fixed monthly salary. This is their own salary; you cannot combine household income to reach the threshold.
Eligibility
The worker needs the qualifying pass and salary, plus an established Singapore-registered employer. Special restrictions apply to some employees transferred from overseas within a company under trade agreements. Confirm those rules if the worker is an overseas intra-corporate transferee.
Prepare the required marriage, birth or adoption records, passports, and other supporting documents. The employer handles the relevant application and renewal process.
-
Check the worker and family requirements Confirm pass type, individual salary, relationship, and any transfer restriction.
-
Have the employer submit the application Provide the required passport and marriage, birth, or adoption records.
-
Complete the family pass Follow its conditions and obtain separate permission for work where required.
Combined household income cannot replace the worker’s own salary requirement.
What This Route Allows
The approved pass lets you stay as a family member while its conditions are met. Its validity is linked to the worker’s pass.
What This Route Is Not
A Dependant's Pass does not give unrestricted permission to work locally. A local job requires the appropriate work pass. A qualifying business owner may instead be able to apply for a Letter of Consent. Ask the Ministry of Manpower which permission your planned activity needs.
Other relatives and workers holding different types of passes need the relevant separate family route. Permanent residence also has separate requirements.
Next Steps
- Confirm the relationship and the worker’s pass, individual salary, employer, and any transfer-related restriction.
- Ask the employer to apply with the required family and passport records.
- Complete pass issuance and get any necessary employment or business approval before starting work.
