Sierra Leone Business Residence

Sierra Leone Residency
Pathway overview

At a glance

If you will run an approved business project in Sierra Leone, you may be able to apply for an investor permit. The National Investment Board (NIB) helps coordinate the process with immigration and labor authorities. You need approval for the project and your own role, as well as company registration.

Business
A qualifying project in an approved sector
Paid work or business activity
The applicable work permission is also required for income-producing activity
Documents
Investment or company certificate, passport, photos, and identity registration

Summary

Sierra Leone’s investor permit allows a foreign applicant to seek residence for an approved project in which they hold an accepted role. The National Investment Board coordinates with Immigration and Labor, while the applicant provides the investment or company certificate and required identity records. A business registration alone does not grant the person residence or work permission.

Could this pathway work for you?

Eligibility

Confirm that your business sector and personal role qualify, then obtain the investment approval and registration required for the project. Prepare the investment or company certificate, your passport, photos, and the required identity registration.

If you will do paid work or carry out income-producing business activity, you also need the applicable work permission through the unified permit system. This is the online service handling work and residence applications.

Applying to live in Sierra Leone through a business
  1. Confirm the project and your role qualify Arrange the required investment approval and business registration.
  2. Prepare company and identity records Check which residence and work permissions are needed.
  3. Apply and follow the approved conditions Use the confirmed permit process and keep renewal evidence current.

The approval sets the actual stay; company registration alone does not issue an investor permit.

What This Route Allows

NIB describes an investor permit valid for up to five years, with renewal available. The actual approval determines the period and business activity covered. Keep any required work or professional permission valid as well.

What This Route Is Not

Company registration, shares without a qualifying active role, or a property purchase alone does not grant residence. This route does not grant citizenship or promise permanent residence.

Next Steps

  1. Confirm the approved sector, project, foreign ownership, and your role with NIB and the relevant authorities.
  2. Obtain the business and investment approvals and prepare the company and personal records.
  3. Complete identity registration and apply for the required residence and work permissions.
  4. Check the period actually granted and maintain the records needed for renewal.
