Summary
Chad’s business residence is for people carrying out an accepted business or profession, with activity approval handled separately from the residence card. The applicant must obtain the relevant activity approval and complete residence formalities before the ninety-day stay limit, rather than beginning operations on the strength of an entry document.
Eligibility
Articles 54–55 require approval for the activity and prior permission from the employment authority. Check the registration and industry requirements for your business and your own role, including any foreign-ownership limits.
Prepare proof of lawful entry, your passport, payment records, and evidence of the approved activity for the residence-card application. Arrange the residence process before the 90-day limit and obtain approval before starting the business activity.
-
Check your activity Confirm the business, ownership, and personal-role requirements.
-
Arrange activity approvals Obtain the required business and employment-authority permission.
-
Complete residence formalities Act before the 90-day stay limit and before operating.
A residence card does not replace the required activity approvals.
What This Route Allows
You can live in Chad for the approved business activity and period. The residence card lasts one year and is renewable, subject to the requirements. Any separate work or professional approval still applies.
What This Route Is Not
Company registration, passive share ownership, or buying property alone does not grant residence. This is not citizenship by investment and does not guarantee permanent residence.
Next Steps
- Confirm that the activity, foreign ownership, and your role are allowed.
- Complete business and employment-authority approvals and gather the supporting documents.
- Arrange the residence card before the stay limit, obtain permission before operating, and keep your records current.
