Venezuela Pension or Income Visa
At a glance
Venezuela’s income-based visa requires at least USD $1,200 a month in lawful income or a pension from abroad, plus USD $500 for each accompanying family member.
- Income
- Lawful pension or other income from abroad
- Minimum
- USD $1,200 per month
- Dependents
- Additional USD $500 per person per month
Summary
Venezuela’s passive-income visa is for people whose continuing foreign income can support their household, with the consulate assessing both its source and availability. Pension and asset-income records must establish the required monthly amount, including the increase for dependents. Planned future earnings or an unsupported account balance do not complete that evidence.
Eligibility
Your income must come from a lawful source abroad, such as a pension. A proposed salary from a local job or a one-time bank balance does not meet the requirement for continuing income.
If you apply alone, the minimum is USD $1,200 a month. Add USD $500 a month for each accompanying family member and provide records proving those relationships.
The ministry’s checklist also requires a passport valid for at least six months, photographs, a medical certificate, and payment of the consular fee. Check with the Venezuelan consulate handling your application about document authentication, any additional records, and how to apply.

A proposed local salary or one-time bank balance does not meet the continuing-income requirement.
What This Route Allows
If approved, you can live in Venezuela for one year using your income from abroad. You can apply for further one-year periods while that income continues.
What This Route Is Not
This is not an employment visa, immediate permanent residence, or citizenship. Renewal depends on showing that you still receive the required income from abroad.
Next Steps
- Gather records showing the source, amount, and continuation of your foreign income.
- Calculate the total needed for your household and prepare family records if relatives will accompany you.
- Check the consulate’s document requirements, including the travel reservation, and submit your application.
- Keep income records for any renewal.
