Summary
Zambia's Investor's Permit lets qualifying foreign investors live in the country for their business activity, with different requirements for a new business and investment in an existing company. The permit must cover the applicant's actual business and work, and permanent residence would require a separate later application.
Before committing funds, confirm which requirements Immigration is applying. The Immigration Control Act, 2026 needs a separate commencement order, which this review did not verify, while the older investment checklist remains published. That uncertainty affects which rules and documents should guide the application.
Eligibility
You must be over 18 and document the personal investment required for your business. Prepare company records, evidence of the business premises, and the necessary approvals. Your permit must cover the business and the work you will actually do.

What This Route Allows
You can live in Zambia for the approved investment activity and permit period. A later Residence Permit application is separate. Confirm how long you must hold the investor permission and which investment conditions apply under the rules in force at that time.
What This Route Is Not
This is not citizenship by investment or an immediate grant of permanent residence. It does not give you an unrestricted right to work in another business.
Next Steps
- Confirm the rules currently in use and whether you are starting a new business or joining an existing one.
- Document the required personal capital, company approvals, premises, and your role.
- Apply for the Investor's Permit and keep business, tax, and renewal records current.
