If you have been married to a Kazakhstani citizen for at least one year, you may be able to apply for a C2 family-reunification visa. Your spouse must live permanently in Kazakhstan and meet the sponsorship requirements.
This guide covers spouses of citizens. Other family relationships and sponsor categories have different requirements.
Eligibility
You need a legally recognized marriage and records showing that the marriage is at least one year old. Your spouse must provide the required invitation and identity documents.
Your spouse also needs to show:
- Monthly financial support of at least the statutory minimum wage for each family member.
- Suitable housing.
- The required medical insurance.
Adult family applicants need a criminal-record certificate. Check the responsible consulate’s instructions for translations, authentication, and other personal documents.
-
Check the marriage and sponsor requirements Confirm the one-year marriage period and your spouse’s permanent home in Kazakhstan.
-
Prepare the invitation and supporting records Include support, housing, insurance, and required personal documents.
-
Apply for the C2 visa Follow the responsible consulate’s instructions and arrival formalities.
Approval and the length of stay depend on the application; marriage alone does not grant status.
What This Route Allows
A single-entry C2 visa can be issued for up to 90 days. A multiple-entry C2 visa can be issued for up to one year. The actual dates and entry conditions on your visa control your stay.
What This Route Is Not
Marriage does not automatically grant citizenship, permanent residence, or permission to work. Check the separate rules before accepting a local job.
This guide does not cover every C2 family category, private visits, or joining a spouse who holds only temporary immigration permission.
Next Steps
- Confirm that your spouse lives permanently in Kazakhstan and that your recognized marriage meets the one-year requirement.
- Prepare the invitation, marriage records, support and housing evidence, insurance, and required personal documents.
- Apply through the responsible consulate and complete any local formalities required after arrival.
