- After arrival
- Apply for residence within 21 days
Summary
Mongolia’s accompanying-family route allows eligible relatives to join a qualifying worker, with each person applying on the basis of an accepted relationship and sponsor. The family member’s permission and employment rights need their own checks.
This guide only covers families of C2 workers. Other work categories have different family rules, even when their codes also begin with C.
Eligibility
Your relative and relationship
The worker must hold C2 residence. The C2-1 family list includes a spouse, partner, parent, grandparent, or child under 18. You need documents the Immigration Agency accepts as proof of the relationship; simply saying that you are partners is not enough.
The organization supporting the worker must provide a written request explaining the relationship and reason for the family stay. Include the worker’s passport and residence documents.
Your application
You need a passport valid for at least 180 days, relationship records and translations, the documents used for the entry application, and the required address record.
Apply for residence within 21 days after entering Mongolia. First-time applicants must attend the identity and biometric checks, such as the required fingerprint or photo collection.
-
Confirm the worker holds C2 residence Other work categories have separate family rules.
-
Prepare family and employer records Prove the relationship and obtain the sponsoring organization’s request.
-
Apply within 21 days of entry Complete the residence, identity, and biometric steps.
Family residence does not settle work rights. Each person needs an application and accepted relationship evidence.
What This Route Allows
Approval lets you stay with the C2 worker for the granted period, linked to their permission. Check work-permit requirements separately before taking a job.
At renewal, confirm how a change in the worker’s status or a child’s age affects your application.
What This Route Is Not
A construction, mining, domestic-work, or transport permit is not C2 simply because its code starts with C. This family category must match the worker’s actual status.
A short visit is different from family residence, and approval for one person does not cover everyone in the household.
Next Steps
- Confirm that the worker holds C2 residence and that your relationship is accepted.
- Obtain the organization’s request, the worker’s documents, and proof of your relationship.
- Prepare your passport, translations, entry documents, and address record.
- Apply within 21 days after entry, attend the identity checks, and read your own permit’s conditions.
