Tuvalu Spouse Residence
At a glance
Tuvalu’s Permit to Enter and Reside can cover family reunion or accompanying a qualifying resident spouse.
- Family
- Documented spouse and accepted family purpose
- Support
- Adequate funds or accepted resident sponsorship
Summary
A spouse seeking to join or accompany a lawful resident in Tuvalu must document the marriage, family purpose, sponsor's status, and means of support. The Principal Immigration Officer decides whether those records meet the Permit to Enter and Reside requirements.
Permission can last up to one year, with extensions requiring approval. It does not itself authorize employment or business activity. Other family purposes covered by the regulations need their own assessment rather than being assumed to follow the spouse category.

What This Route Allows
Residence as an approved family member for the permit period.
What This Route Is Not
This does not automatically permit employment or business. An ordinary visitor permit is different, and family residence does not itself grant permanent residence or citizenship.
Next Steps
- Confirm the marriage, sponsor’s status, and accepted family purpose.
- Prepare Form 3, any required Form 6 sponsorship, and the supporting records.
- Obtain the permit and check its activity restrictions and renewal deadline.
