Summary
Venezuela’s citizen-family visa lets eligible relatives join a Venezuelan citizen after documenting both the sponsor’s citizenship and the accepted relationship for the consular application. Each joining person needs records supporting their own category. The family visa and any later permanent-residence application are separate decisions rather than one automatic consequence of kinship.
Eligibility
The published categories cover a Venezuelan citizen’s spouse, children under 18 who have not become legally independent, parents, and parents-in-law.
You need official records, such as birth or marriage certificates, proving your relationship to the Venezuelan citizen. A marriage abroad may need to be registered with a Venezuelan consulate.
The ministry’s checklist also requires a passport valid for at least six months, photographs, a medical certificate, and payment of the consular fee. Check with the Venezuelan consulate handling your application about document authentication, any additional records, and how to apply.
-
Check your relationship Confirm that you are a spouse, qualifying minor child, parent, or parent-in-law.
-
Prove the family connection Gather family records and proof of your relative’s Venezuelan citizenship.
-
Apply through the consulate Check marriage registration and the required personal documents.
Each relative must provide evidence that they qualify.
What This Route Allows
If approved, you can enter and stay in Venezuela through your family relationship. The visa is valid for one year and allows multiple entries. An extension requires a separate application.
What This Route Is Not
The family visa does not automatically give you citizenship or establish independent work rights. You must prove both the family relationship and your relative’s Venezuelan citizenship.
Next Steps
- Gather the records proving your relationship and your relative’s Venezuelan citizenship.
- Ask the consulate whether any marriage registration or document authentication is needed.
- Submit the application with your personal documents and the consular fee.
- If you need an extension, apply at least two months before the visa expires.
