Summary
Venezuela’s resident-family visa lets eligible relatives join a permanent resident, with each applicant documenting an accepted family connection to that sponsor. Establish the sponsor's actual immigration status before using this route. A family member's temporary permission or a plan to gain permanent residence is not the same starting point.
Eligibility
The published categories cover a spouse, children under 18 who have not become legally independent, parents, and parents-in-law.
Your relative must hold permanent residence in Venezuela. Provide their passport and residence visa, along with birth or marriage records proving your relationship. A marriage abroad may need Venezuelan consular registration.
The ministry’s checklist also requires a passport valid for at least six months, photographs, a medical certificate, and payment of the consular fee. Check with the Venezuelan consulate handling your application about document authentication, any additional records, and how to apply.

What This Route Allows
If approved, you can enter and stay in Venezuela through your family relationship. The visa lasts one year and allows multiple entries. You must apply separately for an extension.
What This Route Is Not
Your relative’s permanent residence does not automatically give you the same status. This visa also does not automatically give you citizenship or independent work rights.
Next Steps
- Gather your family records and your relative’s passport and permanent-residence visa.
- Check with the consulate whether registration or authentication of any records is needed.
- Submit the visa application with your personal documents.
- Apply for any extension at least two months before the visa expires.
